Extending the Cell Phone Battery Life

Just because a cell phone battery charger is nearby, it does not mean that it is wise to charge the cell phone at that time. The cell phone battery life can be preserved if people use certain tips to help to extend the life of their cell phone batteries. There are very simple things that people can do in regards to the phone settings that they use as well as the ways that they go about charging their cell phones that will help to extend the life of their cell phone batteries.

Internal and External

There are some internal settings that can be changed to extend the cell phone battery life. The brightness level of the screen should be set to the lowest setting so that it does not use as much power anymore. The screen light should also be set to turn off as quickly as possible after the user has used functionality on the phone the last time. This also serves to preserve power in the phone. Another feature that people do not often think of as using a lot of energy is the vibrating feature. In order to cause the whole cell phone to vibrate, a lot of energy is expended to do so. Instead of using that feature, a quiet feature should be used where the phone will briefly light up, but will make no noise when a phone call comes through.

Another way to preserve cell phone battery life is to make sure that there are not any applications running that are not in use. Once a person has finished working in a certain application, it should be completely closed rather than left open and ready to use again at a moment's notice. In addition, if the wireless connection is not being used at the time, then the feature should be shut off until it is needed again since it also limits the cell phone battery's life.

There are some other things that a person can do to extend the cell phone battery's life which require some forethought. Instead of charging the phone each night when the person is asleep, the cell phone should only be charged when there are only one or two bars left. In this way, the battery is fully depleted before being charged which helps to preserve the life of the cell phone battery which only has a certain number of rechargings before becoming ineffective at holding a charge.
