It seems that cell phone batteries can last a very long time or they do not last long at all with very little seen in between. There are different reasons for this, but one of the main ones is that people do not think to take care of their cell phone in terms of the cell phone battery life. However, there are certain things that people can do to make their cell phone batteries last longer before having to replace them. These tips are very simple, common sense things that people often forget in the course of running their every day lives. They can, however, save money and frustration in the long run if they are followed.

Tips

Although many people do not think about this, a cell phone battery should only be charged when it is really low. This allows the battery to become fully depleted before getting a recharging which helps to extend its life. Most batteries only have a certain number of times that they can be recharged because of the wear and tear that recharging places in the battery's cells. If the person waits until the cell phone battery is fully depleted before recharging, the cell phone is not recharged on a daily basis, but is instead charged every two or three days, depending on how much it is used each day.

Another tip for lengthening the cell phone battery's lifetime is to stop recharging the phone overnight. Although this is a convenient time of day to recharge the phone, the cell phone battery only needs about three or four hours to regain full charge again. Continuing to charge the battery after it is fully charged only puts more undue strain on the battery and thus reduces its overall life span.

People who take their cell phone into the bathroom with them when they are showering are also reducing the life of their cell phone battery. The damp nature of the bathroom when a person is showering is not good for the cell phone battery cells and will decrease the length of time that the battery will retain a charge as well as its overall life span. Another way to extend the running time of the phone on a single charge is to turn the light settings of the phone to the shortest time possible while still giving you some light to see the applications on the phone at night. The screen brightness level should also be switched to the lowest setting to conserve energy.
