Tips
One way to avoid replacing a cell phone battery for as long as possible is to make sure that the battery is fully activated from the beginning. When the battery is new, the phone should be charged up fully for the first time and then allowed to run until the phone dies on its own before charging it up again. This process should be done from two to four times before changing the way the phone is charged. Although it is nice to keep a fully charged phone all of the time, this is not necessarily good for the battery and is actually reducing the length of time before the person will have to find a replacement cell phone battery. Cell phones should not be recharged before the bars are at one or two. Otherwise, the phone battery will start to 'remember' the amount of charge that was lost and will not fully retain a charge any longer.
Even if this 'memory' process has started with a Nickel battery, there are ways to remove the gasses that have built up (which cause the memory in the battery) and extend the battery's life so that a replacement cell phone battery does not need to be bought as soon. One way to remove the gasses is to let the battery fully run its course once in awhile. Even though it is difficult to see that the cell phone is running out of power, it is important to let it do so because it lets the battery become conditioned to the full use of its cells rather than partial usage.
